Message Authentication Code (MAC)

A system for encrypting digital messages by use of an encryption algorithm and a unique secret key creates a message authentication code or an MAC. The MAC is sent to a customer or merchant who can use the security key to access the data in the message and to ensure a proper degree of message security via the use of encryption technology.
